In 1994 the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg started an event that intended to put graduates from German Film and Media Schools in touch with the industry. It was labeled "Film and Media Exchange" and was supposed to take place every two years. With its high-quality presentations by international speakers, boothes and workshops by soft- and hardware vendors and additional partner events, it became an immediate success. After 1998 it changed its subtitle to "Congress for Digital Media Production".
ACM SIGGRAPH's Digital Art Community is now accepting submissions to its upcoming art show: "Enhanced Vision - Digital Video." The show will be an online international survey of today's most exciting and innovative digitally-enhanced video art works.
The creators of the show describe it as follows:
PIXELvienna is the Annual Austrian Computer Graphics and Animation Conference taking place in the beautiful setting of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna.
The Digital Content Expo is an international event intended to shape the future of the industry and promote the exchange of the latest information between participating researchers, creators and businesspeople. While the stars of the show at most trade shows are the products on display at the exhibition booths, at the Digital Content Expo the spotlight is focused on prototype systems and technology so new that it's still in the R&D stage.

With the advent of social networks, smartphones and increasingly powerful web services, our digital existence has grown immensely in recent years. From shopping to attending a conference call, technology enables us to connect with the people and resources we need in a matter of seconds. Though we’re more connected than ever before, there has always been a line between our virtual presence and our real existence. Augmented reality (AR) technology aims to blur that line, if not erase it completely.
The current economic situation has made it difficult for people in many professions to find jobs. The computer graphics community is no exception. While the annual SIGGRAPH conference is rife with opportunities for networking and locating job openings in computer graphics, unemployed job seekers are typically in financial flux -- and as a result, may have difficulty affording the cost of registration.
Online registration for SIGGRAPH 2014 is now open!
