The VIEW Conference has recently announced its lineup of keynote addresses and programming for its 2015 edition, set for Oct. 19-23 in Turin, Italy. The lineup features an impressive array of animation and visual-effects speakers and projects.
The keynotes include:
In the last years, a myriad of notions stemming from the sciences have been used in an incorrect way for mercantilist purposes. We have an example in the wide context of the user experience design, human-robot interaction, human-computer interaction, human-computer communication, human-computer interfaces, etc. with the notion of interdisciplinarity when in fact there are cases in which we should speak of transdisciplinarity or multidisciplinarity. Evidently three notions which are not synonymous between themselves.
In this conference we will find the intersection of the formal and factual sciences aimed at human-computer interaction, telecommunications, informatics and scientific information. The goal is to know the latest breakthroughs and the immediate trends, and also in the long term, of each one of the disciplines that make up the sets of the areas of knowledge we approach.
The user interface is the environment par excellence where the latest breakthroughs in the formal and factual sciences converge. In the design of the current and future interactive systems, the presentation of the content on the screen is the key to the success of the rest of the components which make up an avant-garde computer science structure.
SIGGRAPH is the world's largest, most influential annual event in computer graphics and interactive techniques. The SIGGRAPH experience encompasses five mind-blowing days of conference content packed with research, demos and screenings of the latest breakthroughs in the field. It also includes three days of exhibits showcasing cutting-edge technology and presentations from industry-leading companies.
SIGGRAPH 2016 will take place in sunny Anaheim, California, from July 24 to July 28. Join us.
SIGGRAPH content is freely available in the ACM Digital Library for two weeks before the conference begins, until a week after its conclusion. After the four week "free look" period, SIGGRAPH content can still be accessed at no cost through special links found only on SIGGRAPH.org. Note that ACM SIGGRAPH members always have access to SIGGRAPH content and ACM SIGGRAPH-sponsored content in the ACM Digital Library.
1. You can reserve virtual reality experiences ahead of time.
Jump to the front of the line by reserving time slots in advance for the mind-blowing virtual and augmented reality experiences at SIGGRAPH 2015. Anticipated to be one of the most popular features of this year's conference, the VR Village offers stand-up and sit-down VR, tabletop AR, nomadic VR (untethered head-mounted displays or AR), full-dome cinema and live performances and demos in a 360-degree immersion dome.
In search of a list of after-hours events at SIGGRAPH 2015? Maybe we can help. SIGGRAPH.org has compiled a calendar of public parties and events happening during SIGGRAPH 2015 in Los Angeles, which will be constantly updated as information becomes available. To import the party listings to your Google calendar, click the +Google Calendar button on the lower right of the calendar, or add events individually by clicking on the event names.
Resumes and reels are a constant source of frustration for students and new graduates. What to include? How much? How should it be presented? All are very important questions, and with answers that vary widely depending on the experience level of the applicant, and the position to which they're applying.
The aim of the symposium, now in its 30th year, is to create a forum for multi-disciplinary dialogue at the intersection of arts, technology and contemporary culture. The symposium brings artists and researchers from a wide range of fields together to engage, interact and share ideas as they present new works, research and performances in a variety of formats.
The goal of the workshop is to attract high-quality research papers in the domains of dynamic simulation and physical interaction in virtual reality environments. VRIPHYS 2015 also welcomes papers showing ongoing research with promising results and new technology with applications of related focus.
Interactive technologies have the potential to increase the quality of life for millions of people. The main goal of HCITOCH 2015 is to facilitate communicability and make the fruition of these new technologies more pleasant.
The SIGGRAPH Education Committee has announced a new competition for SIGGRAPH 2015: The SIGGRAPH Trailer Contest.
The ACM Symposium on Spatial User Interaction (SUI) 2015 is the third international symposium focused on the user interface challenges that appear when users interact in the space where the flat, two-dimensional, digital world meets the volumetric, physical, three-dimensional (3D) space we live in. This considers both spatial input and 3D output, with an emphasis on the issues around interaction between humans and systems.
Communicability is the cornerstone for successful interactions between human beings and technology. During the technological (r)evolution in scientfic visualization, hypermedia online, virtual reality, augmented reality, etc. (devices in which a huge part of humankind is immersed), there is an intersection of disciplines, both formal and factual sciences. The main goal of CCGIDIS is to improve the interaction process with these new technologies on a daily basis.
Submission deadline: May 10, 2015 at 23:59 local time in Hawaiian Islands
ISEA is one of the world’s most prominent international arts and technology events, bringing together scholarly, artistic, and scientific domains in an interdisciplinary discussion and showcase of creative productions applying new technologies in art, interactivity, and electronic and digital media. The event annually brings together artists, designers, academics, technologists, scientists, and general audience in the thousands.
The Digital Production Symposium (DigiPro 2015) promotes the sharing of ideas, insights and techniques for the production of top quality digital visual effects and animation. DigiPro brings together scientists, engineers, artists and producers in a tight-knit environment, working to close the gap between research results and industry needs.
DigiPro 2015 will be co-located with SIGGRAPH 2015.
The conference will take place in Istanbul, Turkey, June 20–22, 2015. A single registration for Expressive 2015 will include all three symposia.
Invited talks and artist talks will be shared among the conferences, and sessions will be mixed. Participants will be able to freely switch between the sessions, so as to see the talks of their own field of work and also be inspired by talks from related domains. The submission, review, and publication process for the event will be handled jointly across the three conferences.
The annual Web3D Conference is a major event which unites researchers, developers, entrepreneurs, experimenters, artists and content creators in a dynamic learning environment. Attendees share and explore methods of using, enhancing and creating new 3D Web and Multimedia technologies such as WebGL, X3D, VRML, Collada, MPEG family, U3D, Java3D and other technologies.
